Adieu, parting is such sweet sorrow....

So, here I am at last, sitting in a classroom after having been run ragged by the rampaging barbarian hordes which society politely calls 'students'!
But this Blog is not to do with the present as such. No, in fact it is retrospective.........
You see I have not always been an 'educator'. O no! I have been a cook/chef/caterer since I left college in 1985. You could say that I have had a complete career break....change.....restart! Yes complete is a good descriptive word!
It is to my friends that I have left behind that I wish to talk. In particular because in taking up my first teaching post I have moved from Home (N.Ireland) to England. (Or should that be the other way around...im not sure anymore myself!)
To the staff, management,of the Lodge Hotel I now acknowledge my debt. You have allowed me the opportunities to earn a wage, be myself, and the chance of 'always coming back!'
Yet it is the kitchen staff in particular that a few words would be most appropriately addressed. To Andy 'a-ha-huh' Rodgers, thanks for your support. To Tiny, Ok so i will never understand why you want to wear a skirt and march past a chapel playing your Lambeg loudly, but at least I can understand that you are a mate: come Hell or High water or even worse Paisley becoming Pope! Martin and Kara, I should have congratulated you both, so I do now! Mark, have a large one on me...no on second thoughts, dont! Phillip, cheers! Kim...ahhhh..Kim....if ever the straight and narrow appeals, gis a ring innit! Shelley..shut up and do some work! Alvin, if you come back to lodge, I hope you made sure that none of those old ladies would spill the beans on your milf seeking exploits whilst at the old folks home...dirty little(ugly) git! O, it is so good to have such friends.....
Bistro staff: Adam Allcock (the only time I will be able to write that on a blog without an adult rating) I expect you to be the new Jamie Oliver one day: which will be fine as I dont have a telly!
Last of all on my list of farewells: Richard. Or Dick as he is affectionately known in the wider gay community.....(awfull laugh, slight clap of hands and fake tan grin) I hope you sort out that John Inman walk one day. And, seriously Dick, learning to write might prove to be an advantage one day!
More? Yes, but thats it for now.

You'll like teaching. Eager young minds and all that. Well - some of them anyway. I too went from being a chef to being an educator. At least that's what they pay me for.
